NBC Comedy Short Cuts

As one of seven semi-finalists from hundreds of nationwide submissions to the NBC Comedy Short Cuts festival,  The Break Up screened in NYC for a packed audience of film lovers and industry in September 2008.

Side note:  NBC Comedy Short Cuts is a unique showcase of short, comedic films and videos produced with a culturally diverse production team, cast, or theme. NBC Universal uses this festival as a pipeline for uncovering and developing diverse talent in front of and behind the camera.

It was The Break Up‘s best screening to date.  No.  Joke.  Why?  Because:

  1. The audience was the loudest crowd – in the best way – that I’ve ever encountered.  They literally screamed, laughed, hooted, cackled and gasped their way through the 6 minutes and 40 seconds of our film.
  2. Ben Silverman, co-chairman of NBC Entertainment and NBC Universal Television Studio and easy-on-the-eyes wunderkind with a Rico Sauve ‘tude, kicked off the event.
  3.  The festival flew out Katy Sullivan (plays the unbreak-up-able ‘Rachel’) for the evening, and  we sat side-by-side soaking in every minute of it.

A couple days later Kitty Landers won two awards from NYTVF.  It was a great week.
